Storyline Edit. Highschool of the Dead is set in the present day, beginning as the world is struck by a deadly pandemic that turns humans into zombies, euphemistically referred to by the main characters as "them" since they are no longer considered human. The story follows a group of high school students, the high school's nurse, and a young girl as they fight their way to safety through the deadly streets of Japan during a worldwide catastrophic event known as the "Outbreak".

The first anime adaptation of this manga was taken in , and fans widely loved it. In fact, the series was so popular that it is regarded as one of the most popular Television Anime series even to this day.

But sadly, like many brilliant anime series out there, 'High School of the Dead' did not yet get renewed for a second season. The first season premiered on July 5, , and the finale aired on September 20, In the same year, an original video animation special episode for 'High School of the Dead' was released for the fans. But since then, there have been no new developments, and fans have been waiting eagerly for almost a decade to know anything about the second season.

Here is what we know so far. All of us are waiting for the show to be renewed and come back to our screens. When the show first aired, it became very popular among the manga and anime lovers fans alike. But sadly, unlike many other shows, 'High School of the Dead' is facing a lot of problems. Hence, it is complicated for the series when compared to the other ones.

When the show first came out, everyone loved it, and it was an instant hit. Everyone loves the anime series, and since then, a release date has always been in speculation. But, going by the looks of it, it seems unlikely that the show will get a second season. The manga creator passed away in , and, as a result, the manga was left unfinished. But, all hope is not lost as there could still be a new writer. Even though it is an unlikely scenario if a new writer is appointed, the second season of the anime would be released at the end of or early As we have mentioned later in the article, too, the second season of the anime is said to be produced by a US-based anime network since the original creators of the series did not want to proceed with the series anymore.

This OVA came out in the spring of , which means the series has now been dormant for over a decade. There are several factors impeding Highschool of the Dead from getting a second season. For one, the series' creator, Daisuke Sato, passed away in , although the manga series ended before that. However, this ending was more due to a soft cancellation than anything else.
