Where is wade redden now

The Ottawa Senators will have all-star defenceman Wade Redden in the lineup for at least two more seasons. On Friday morning, Senators general manager John Muckler announced he signed the team's alternate captain to a new two-year contract. The main thing is I wanted to be on a competitive team. We have that here. I believe in our team. I have a comfort zone here. I've played with Alfie captain Daniel Alfredsson for 10 years, and Philly Chris Phillips , there's a good nucleus here.

I'm really excited. Now, 20 years later, Redden will be mentoring Pitlick's son, Rem, in his wholly unfamiliar new role as the assistant director of player development for the Nashville Predators. Redden, the Senators all-time leading scorer among defencemen, retired from the NHL in and is moving onto the next phase of his hockey life.

He's now second in command to former NHLer Scott Nichol on the Predators development side, responsible for evaluating the club's prospects and assisting them in their transition to the NHL with a focus on areas such as nutrition and training. It was the quiet ending to a career that tapered off considerably when Redden left Ottawa in Redden suited up in only two seasons with the Rangers, was demoted to the minors and then bought out by the club shortly after the lockout ended.

Brief stints with the Blues and Bruins concluded a fine career for the second overall pick of the draft. It was in St. Who could have predicted it would all end this quickly?

Sure the Senators were doing everything in their power to get him to waive his no-trade clause in the closing months of his Ottawa tenure. Take a write-down, move on to the next disaster.

No epsom salt bath or mediation session was going to fix that. He played 11 seasons here, racking up points and a plus rating over games. More importantly, he was a beloved community member who always made time for those less fortunate than he.
