As time went on, more characters were introduced beyond those first five heroines and their ally Tuxedo Mask. Sailor Chibi Moon, known as Chibiusa in her civilian form, entered the franchise as something of a surprise. She traveled through time and went up against Usagi, intent on finding a special crystal to help save her family in the future.
Some fans might still have questions about her since much of her story was different between the original anime and manga. She actually had a brief appearance earlier than that. That first short story even included Sailor Chibi Moon in a uniform as she dreamt, but the uniform she dreamed up would be a little different than the one she would eventually wear when she activated her Sailor Senshi abilities. In her dream, her uniform included a cape. Chibiusa has a lot in common with her mother.
One of those commonalities is her birthday. All birth dates listed for the Sailor Senshi in the first category are based on how old they were when Sailormoon StarS ended in Usagi and the others did not start to age in the first anime until Sailormoon S.
So from , Usagi was perpetually 14 years old. So if we start the aging process in , she should have been 18 by the time StarS ended in But as we see in StarS, she's only 16, so it's easier to start there than it is to go back to Hotaru was 12 when first found, but due to a bond she developed with 30th Century Chibiusa, she only ages when she Small Lady does.
Hotaru stopped aging when 30th Century Chibiusa went home for good, and didn't start aging again until Parallel Chibiusa was born and had caught up with her in age.
This is why in Parallel Sailormoon, Hotaru looks 15, but she is actually around 28 years old. Parallel Sailormoon takes place around 15 years after StarS ended, as Usagi has chosen to "live her life" the way she had been, so Crystal Tokyo hasn't been built yet. Sailor Mercury is the most studios and responsible out of the inner scouts. She can often be found scolding them about doing their school work.
Like the other Scouts, she is 14 at the start of the show as well. She is 5'2 and her birthday is on September 10, making her a Virgo. Sailor Jupiter debuts as the fourth Scout and is skilled in martial arts. She is one of the tallest scouts and has a knack for cooking despite being the same age as the rest of the inner scouts and ending the series at age Jupiter is a girl who actually had trouble making friends before she met Usagi and ultimately ended up awakening as a scout.
She stands in at the height of 5'6, and her birthday is on December 6, making her a Sagittarius. She is the lead of the scouts and, like the rest of her group, is 16 by the end of the series.
Venus is 5'2, making her the same height as Sailor Mercury, and her birthday is on October 22, making her a Libra. Sailor Neptune is a member of the outer scouts and starts off the series at the age of 16 and turns 17 by the end of the Stars arc. She is a talented violinist and the girlfriend of Sailor Uranus, who she is often seen with.
Neptune, along with Uranus, holds one of the talismans needed to help save the world. Chibiusa is sweet, hotheaded, and often misunderstood. She was attached to her future father, Mamoru, and even after the R season relating to the manga , she still argued with Usagi over Mamoru, though it was unknown, if she was still attached or did it to bother Usagi. She also heavily criticized Usagi, like Rei, calling her a crybaby and clumsy. She is usually very upbeat, extroverted and outgoing.
Though she started socially awkward, she quickly became popular with her classmates. In the manga, she once became president of her class. Her initial shyness could be attributed to the fact that she was teased in the 30th-century for not having any Guardian powers. As the manga progresses, she gradually matures, becoming more comfortable with herself and more confident with her Soldier abilities.
Because her dream in the manga is to become a beautiful lady, her actions often are based around this. She tries to be a perfectionist and starts off trying to do everything alone and for herself. This view evolves as she realizes what maturity is and what it means to be an adult. In the anime, she is more judgmental and does not mature as much as her manga counterpart. Chibiusa's affections come into conflict because she generally does not immediately identify Usagi Tsukino and Mamoru Chiba as being her biological parents, although she is aware of the fact.
There is evidence that Chibiusa has a hard time identifying Usagi and Mamoru as being her parents since she sees such a sharp contrast in personality between their present and future selves. She also reacts differently toward Usagi and Mamoru than she does towards King Endymion and Neo-Queen Serenity, being more respectful to the latter but more spontaneous to the former; it is not clear if she prefers one set over the other.
However, she always refers to Mamoru as "Mamo-chan" in the 20th century , an affectionate nickname by Usagi, and has an innocent crush on him, much to Usagi's fury. She often picks on Usagi for being clumsy. In the Supers movie, she describes Usagi as "a klutz, a ditz, and a crybaby. Nevertheless, the two often bicker, often behaving more like sisters than mother and daughter.
For years, Chibiusa would feel as though she didn't matter to her mother and would never be able to compare it to her. One day, Chibiusa wandered down a forbidden corridor and came across a strange door. After going through it, she met the Guardian of Time, Sailor Pluto , eventually becoming good friends with her.
Desperate to become a lady like her mother, Chibiusa stole her mother's Legendary Silver Crystal. To save her life, the four Inner Senshi froze Neo-Queen Serenity in a bed of crystal, before combining their powers to form a barrier around the Crystal Palace. To save the future, Chibiusa traveled to the past by Sailor Pluto, warned not to return to the future until she can find Sailor Moon, who would be able to save her mother.
Chibiusa's first appearance was in Episode She appeared from the future and brainwashed Usagi's family into thinking she was her cousin. However, the intervention of Luna prevents Usagi from falling under the influence of Chibiusa's magic and she is the only one among the Tsukino's who are aware of Chibiusa's nature.
When Mamoru begins to experience nightmares of Usagi's demise in the event of their marriage, Chibiusa capitalizes on Mamoru and Usagi's breakup and spends most of her time with him. The breakup and Chibiusa's presence cause friction between Mamoru and Usagi's shaky friendship.
Meanwhile, Rubeus and the Spectre Sisters attempt to capture Chibiusa whenever the opportunity is given.
